Martin has long been known to produce the finest guitars in the world. There are promotions which have been circulating on the internet recently for the sale of Martin guitars for as low as RM200 each. The reason given for ridiculously low price of Martin guitars was supposedly to clear stocks which were claimed to be withheld by the customs in Japan due to noncompliance with the customs and commodity inspection regulations.
Similar scams are happening in Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and recently Thailand too. The Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department is currently investigating this matter.
